January Song: Psalter #278: 1,2,4,5

After School Skating: If your children are going to skate after school, there must be a constant adult presence from your family or another adult who has agreed to oversee your children. An older sibling does not count as an adult unless they are out of high school. If students stay after school, they will be expected to stay outside; they may not loiter in the ball room or throughout the school. If you are using the ice rink after school or on the weekends and there is no staff at school, the adult watching the children must make sure that all of the school doors are locked up, the ball room is neat and orderly, the ice rink is shoveled clean, and all shovels are put away.  There were times last year when school was left unlocked, shovels were left out, and the ice was not cleaned off. There will be some afternoons that the ice will require a re-surfacing. Students will not be allowed to stay after school on those days.

Donuts:  Students will get donuts next Wednesday, January 20.

In Service Day:  No school on Friday, Jan. 22.

Skiing Trip:  Please turn in your skiing forms and money to school by this Friday, January 15.  Please make checks payable to Karen De Vries.

Iowa Basics:  The students in grades 3-8 will be finishing up Iowa Basics tests this week. We are all set for drivers for bowling; thanks to those who volunteered. Cost is $5 per student.  Cash is fine; otherwise, make checks payable to Mike Vander Veen.

End of 2nd Quarter:  Friday, Jan. 15, is the end of the 2nd quarter.  Report cards will be sent home on Wed, Jan. 20.

8th Grade Fundraiser: The FCS 8th Grade Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser will be served this Saturday morning, Jan 16, 2016, from 7am-10am.

Advance Notice:  On Friday, February 5, we will celebrate the 100th day of school by having students dress up as a 100 year- old person.  The Animal Mask Fun Day is tentatively planned for Fri, Feb 26.  Students are invited to make an animal mask to wear that day.

Box Tops: Please turn in your box tops SOON. You may bring them to school – the box is in the kitchen or you may put them in Kay Huizenga or Sandee Alsum’s mail box at church. Please turn them in by Feb. 3. Thank you.

Scrip News: Order a two week supply of scrip by Monday, January 18 at 8pm. Pick-up on Thursday because of the Teacher In-Service Day.  NO ORDER on January 25!!  WHY? The order this week was extremely small, hardly worth the $8.50 in shipping cost. We'll give everyone a chance to order in January one more time and then we hope everyone will be out of the post-Christmas lull by February 😉  Scrip-to-go will still be available.  Coordinator for January is Sarah H.
